Indian grant assistance for diabetic care programme across Nepal

India has provided 50 million Nepali rupees as grant assistance for a diabetic care programme across Nepal. Counselor, Piyush Srivastava from the Indian embassy yesterday inaugurated the 'Nepal-Bharat Maitri Chikitsa Shivir' organised by Gandhi Global Family Nepal (GGFN) at Tatopani, Sindhupalchowk district near the Tibet border.

The programme provides screening and treatment of diabetes mellitus under the Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme. Gandhi Global Family Nepal will further organise screening camps in eleven districts throughout the country.

Government of India’s assistance to Gandhi Global Family Nepal is a part of the Nepal - India Economic Cooperation Programme which has an outlay of over 65 billion nepali rupees with more than 475 large and small development projects completed or currently being implemented in almost all the districts of Nepal .  These development projects mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development have been undertaken in response to local needs, and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
